It’s no secret that Woodfold Farm Fishery is my favourite venue in the north, but things just got a whole lot better!!
What better way to spend a few hours than on the banks of the River Ribble and Calder fishing for Grayling and Chub.
It was a freezing day, all my usual fishing lakes had completely frozen over, so off me and fishing partner Steve went to some flowing water.
How do you like the idea of getting out of bed at 6am, strolling down to the sea and catching breakfast for everyone? Well, that’s exactly what i did everyday on my family holiday at the stunning Polpero in Cornwall! Enjoy the video and pics.
Awesome session at the legendary Woodfold Farm Fisheries with my fishing side kick, Steve.. Fishing off the island directly across from Steve, i baited up great margin swim just under a big over hanging tree.. Now, i know i am usually a pole man, however, there is no way on earth you will stop these Woodfold Carp with a pole! They have awesome power and need to be treated with respect. In this vid i show you how i did it.. Continue reading Early Evening Session at Woodfold Farm Fisheries
The 5th of July 2011 was a momentous day!! For that was the day that i caught the largest Rudd i have ever seen! Tipping the scales at 2lb 2oz this beauty took a double red maggot hook bait fished 1 foot deep..
And boy do these fish fight hard..Using my trusty Shimano Exage Travel Rod and reel, this hardy Rudd gave me a good old run around, but finally slipped over the net to an ecstatic Mr Wing! Continue reading A Ruddy Good Time at Tewitfield Fisheries
Another great early evening fishing trip with my very lucky pal! Steve takes the pound bet with a late in the day carp which took a chunk of the finest “Stevie Welsh” secret recipe luncheon meat.
Check out this short vid of the whole affair.
My Top Tip of the day: Always check down the margins for those late in the day carp, as you can see this tactic worked out just fine for the jammiest fishermen of them all!
The fishing at my secret spot in the Trough of Bowland is some of the best in country. This venue had never held any matches and only has a handful of members, two of them being me and my fishy partner in crime Mr Welsh.
A stunning venue that’s been here for many years. It holds every type of coarse fish you can mention, with some monster carp!
Here we have a typical days fishing in pictures.
Todays jaunt had me at non other than the infamous Manor House Farm fisheries at Pilling near Preston. A great fishery consisting of 4 well stocked lakes containing virtually every species of course fish. I sat at the far end of lake 1 and set up my trusty Maver Pole, which i decided was my only form of fishing for today. 3 swims, 1 infront for the skimmers and roach and 2 margin swims on either side.
Plumed up, potted in pellets, corn and caster and laid my rig over, simple’s. A fish a chuck! After catching non stop roach and skimmers for the first hour i decided to come on the inside line.
Without doubt one of my all time favourite fishies, although this is disappointingly the only Tench of the season so far! Where have all the green beauties gone? The water where i am fishing in this photo is stuffed full of them, however they are few and far between. Weird, its like they are in hiding! Anyway i have been having some great days here, carp to 15lb, roach to 2lb and plenty of skimmers and bream. If you have any magic Tench tips please pass em on.
